Todas as novidades da 13ª edição do Grande Trail Serra D’Arga!
Nos últimos anos, todos os finais de Setembro, a grande festa de Trail Running ruma ao Alto Minho, e tem a Serra D’Arga como palco principal.
A edição de 2024, traz mais uma vez novidades para os seus participantes, a partida dos 100km pela primeira vez em Vila Praia de Âncora, o regresso dos 50km na Ultra de Dem, e a inclusão de uma nova prova de 15km a sair da Aldeia de Covas no sábado com meta em Dem. Esta última dará a oportunidade aos amantes das distâncias mais curtas fazerem uma prova no sábado e outra no domingo, ficando a conhecer as duas vertentes norte e sul da Serra D’Arga.
“Do Mar à Serra” será o lema da versão GTSA 100k com partida no centro de Vila Praia, na Sexta-Feira às 22h, prova com 4.260m desnível positivo e tempo limite de conclusão de 24h. Uma Ultra Endurance Séries 150 da ATRP e dará aos seus vencedores 250 pontos no Circuito Best Trails Series (BTS).
Depois da partida, 500m em areia junto ao mar, continuando durante 9km praticamente planos, no lindíssimo Vale do Âncora, segue-se uma subida fácil mas longa ao Monte de Santo Antão, descida à Vila de Caminha, e nova subida ao alto da Sra das Neves, onde encontrarão as gentes de Dem com muita animação.
Entrando em Dem o percurso do GTSA 100k é coincidente com o GTSA 50k, com a exceção da descida a Covas e subida novamente a Arte na Leira em Arga de Cima.
O GTSA 50k, “A Volta Perfeita à Serra D’Arga” regressa depois de alguns anos com a distância Ultra a ser de 45km, a introdução este ano dos 5km extra, deve-se à inclusão de um novo trilho nas cascatas de S. João D’Arga à muito desejado, mas só agora serem criadas condições de segurança para a utilização do mesmo.
A subida à Pedra Alçada, o Mosteiro S. João, as Aldeias das Argas e a mítica casa do Marco (Arte na Leira), a descida a Cerquido, a mítica subida à Sra do Minho, a descida a S. Lourenço da Montaria, o Rio Âncora com as suas cascatas e lagoas, as dezenas de calçadas romanas, e a descida vertiginosa à meta em Dem, fazem deste trajeto verdadeiramente único.
No Domingo será a habitual "invasão" à Aldeia de S. Lourenço da Montaria, este ano com as provas de 30km, 17km, e a caminhada de 12km, esperamos neste dia mais uma grande festa para culminar este enorme evento.
Os 17km e a caminhada mantém os trajetos do ano passado, já os 30km terá a inclusão da Aldeia de Amonde antes de entrar no Rio Âncora, daí o aumento de 3km dos anteriores 27km.
A Serra D’Arga tem um território com 4500 hectares e faz parte do maciço montanhoso da Peneda-Gerês, é também conhecida por Montanha Sagrada, com os seus trilhos seculares, dificilmente encontramos em outro local, tantos quilómetros de calçadas romanas, que ligam as populações de aldeia em aldeia.
A vida selvagem está bem presente, o Lobo Ibérico encontra neste maciço um excelente refúgio, até as eólicas instaladas na Serra, são paradas por largo período, para não perturbar as fêmeas quando estas estão para dar à luz.
Os famosos cavalos selvagens, dificilmente são vistos em tão grande número, como nesta Serra, a raposa e tantos outros seres da vida animal, encontram neste refúgio a sua casa.
A Serra D’Arga tem um micro clima próprio, não temos em Portugal Continental outra serra com tamanha altitude encostada ao Atlântico, apenas dez quilómetros dividem o mar e os 825m de altitude, nesta zona Norte os ventos fortes, chamadas Nortadas arrastam a massa de ar húmido do atlântico que dá vida a este local.
As suas cascatas fabulosas, são uma atração tanto para os caminheiros, como os Trail Runners, assim como os banhistas no verão. Os “Pinchos” nome dado a estas cascatas são já um nome sonante na maioria dos visitantes.
Muito tem sido feito nos últimos anos, com o projeto Grande Trail Serra D’Arga, conseguimos mostrar todo este património natural, cultural e paisagístico a milhares de atletas e visitantes.
Com campanhas fortes de televisão, rádio, vídeo marketing, fotografia, e tantos outros, levamos a Serra D’Arga a casa dos Portugueses e de muitos estrangeiros de uma outra perspectiva.
Mas também aos residentes destas fantásticas aldeias, o GTSA trás uma dinâmica espetacular, raro é o fim de semanas, que não estejam centenas de pessoas a praticar atividades outdoor neste paraíso natural, para além da alegria trazida por estes forasteiros, novas oportunidades de negócio são criadas, indispensáveis para fixar população.
O GTSA será mais uma vez, a grande final do Circuito Best Trails Series 2024.

All the news of the 13th edition of the Grande Trail Serra D'Arga!

After the start, 500m on sand by the sea, continuing for 9km practically flat, in the beautiful Vale do Âncora, there follows an easy but long climb to Monte de Santo Antão, descent to the village of Caminha, and another climb to the top of Sra das Neves, where you will find the people of Dem with a lot of animation. Entering Dem, the route of the GTSA 100k coincides with the GTSA 50k, with the exception of the descent to Covas and ascent again to Arte na Leira in Arga de Cima.
The GTSA 50k, "The Perfect Lap to Serra D'Arga" returns after a few years with the Ultra distance being 45km, the introduction this year of the extra 5km, is due to the inclusion of a new trail in the waterfalls of S. Serra D'Arga has a territory of 4500 hectares and is part of the Peneda-Gerês mountain massif, it is also known as the Sacred Mountain, with its secular trails, we hardly find anywhere else, so many kilometers of Roman pavements, which connect the populations from village to village.
The wildlife is very present, the Iberian Wolf finds in this massif an excellent refuge, even the wind farms installed in the Serra, are stopped for a long period, so as not to disturb the females when they are about to give birth. The famous wild horses are hardly seen in such large numbers, as in this Mountain, the fox and so many other beings of animal life, find their home in this refuge.
Serra D'Arga has its own microclimate, we do not have in mainland Portugal another mountain with such an altitude leaning against the Atlantic, only ten kilometers share the sea and the 825m of altitude, in this northern area the strong winds, called Nortadas drag the mass of humid air from the Atlantic that gives life to this place.Its fabulous waterfalls are an attraction for hikers as well as Trail Runners, as well as bathers in the summer. The "Pinchos", the name given to these waterfalls, are already a resonant name for most visitors.
Much has been done in recent years, with the Grande Trail Serra D'Arga project, we have been able to show all this natural, cultural and landscape heritage to thousands of athletes and visitors. With strong campaigns for television, radio, video marketing, photography, and many others, we took Serra D'Arga to the home of the Portuguese and many foreigners from another perspective. But also to the residents of these fantastic villages, the GTSA brings a spectacular dynamic, rare is the weekend, that hundreds of people are not practicing outdoor activities in this natural paradise, in addition to the joy brought by these outsiders, new business opportunities are created, indispensable to fix population.
